THE AMBERWATCH FOUNDATION'S "BE SAFE!" PROGRAM CONTINUES TO MAKE STRIDES IN SAFETY EDUCATION IN FLORIDA
ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. (January 7, 2008) - The AmberWatch Foundation (AWF) is excited to announce that three additional counties in Florida have adopted the "Be Safe!" Program as part of their education curriculums, further securing it as the leading abduction and molestation prevention program in the state. The "Be Safe!" Program is a cost-free educational course developed by the AmberWatch Foundation that teaches children and families how to arm themselves against potentially dangerous situations.
This month the Brevard County School District, which is the 43rd largest school district in the country, announced it will implement the "Be Safe!" education program in its entire school district and train 45 of the district's guidance, psychology, and law enforcement officials in the program as part of its district-wide adoption. Additionally, the Martin County School District decided to introduce the "Be Safe!" Program it to the district's guidance departments beginning in Spring 2008 and the Boys and Girls Club of Broward County will now offer "Be Safe!" to its members.
Since its debut in 2005, the "Be Safe!" Program, consisting of a basic classroom curriculum with group discussions, workbook activities and assignments, has been adopted in several school districts throughout Florida, representing more than a million students, and is currently offered and taught in school districts across the state.
Florida-based supporters and partners of the AmberWatch Foundation, and their "Be Safe!" Program, include the Boys & Girls Club of Palm Beach, The School District of Palm Beach County, Habitat for Humanity Broward County, Safe and Drug Free Schools Advisory Council, Florida State Senator Dave Aronberg and Broward County District Commissioner Ilene Leiberman.
