AMBERWATCH FOUNDATION'S "BE SAFE!" EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS TO BE BUILT INTO FLORIDA AREA HABITAT FOR HUMANITY PROJECTS
Broward County, FL. (March 7, 2008) – The AmberWatch Foundation has announced today a partnership with Habitat for Humanity’s Broward County affiliate to further the foundation’s cause in keeping America’s children safe from kidnapping and abuse. Through this unique partnership, the AmberWatch Foundation will work with the nonprofit housing ministry to educate families on the foundation’s popular and effective “Be Safe!” program as they settle into their new home provided by the organization.
The AmberWatch Foundation’s “Be Safe!” education program is the most successful safety curriculum to date in the state of Florida and teaches children ways to empower themselves and avoid potentially dangerous situations. This partnership between the AmberWatch Foundation and Habitat for Humanity of Broward County will help the entire family adjust to life in their new home and community, giving parents and children the ability to better protect themselves.
“The communities of Florida have truly embraced the “Be Safe!” program,” said Keith Jarrett, Founder and Chairman of AmberWatch Foundation. “We are thankful for the numerous organizations throughout the state, such as Habitat for Humanity, that are equally passionate about child and family safety and hope that communities nationwide will follow in Florida’s lead.”
Said Geoff Haynes, Vice President of Enterprise Development for AmberWatch Foundation, “The partnership between Habitat for Humanity of Broward County and AmberWatch Foundation is a groundbreaking effort to keep children safe in our communities. We look forward to continuing to grow these efforts and work together to educate families on personal safety.”
The AmberWatch Foundation designed their “Be Safe!” program after comprehensive research and examination on the most effective ways to communicate with children. It was concluded that the key in reaching the millions of children nationwide who are at potential risk of suffering abuse or abduction is to create and provide a safety education program with tools and tips that can easily be applied to school curriculums. Currently, “Be Safe!” is the leading safety education program in Florida and taught in schools and Boys & Girls Clubs by experts in law enforcement and child education throughout the state. Numerous police departments and boards of education have supported the program since its introduction in 2005, and this new partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Broward County will serve as just one more facet of an already successful program.
